Writing for Self-Reflection

Research shows that consistent self-reflective journaling in a focused manner can reduce blood pressure and boost the immune system. To explore this therapeutic practice, we use JournalCards and inwardly-focused writing exercises. We discuss our insights and surprises, and learn how this just-for-us writing can enhance and change our lives. For all adult writers. Please bring your favorite pen and journal/notebook.

Discussion time. After practicing each of several journaling exercises, students will have a chance to share their experiences. This low-key discussion of thoughts and insights about therapeutic writing tends to inspire everyone and draw the group together.
Special requests. Students tend to be more grounded when they write using old-fashioned materials like pen and paper. Please bring your favorite notebook and pen. Please, no laptops or computers.
